Marcus Spears was actively involved in various community service projects during his time at LSU. He was also a member of the Dallas Cowboys 2005 Rookie Club, a program designed to introduce rookie team members to the rewards of participating in community service in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He worked with The Salvation Army, the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and Meals on Wheels. Together with teammate DeMarcus Ware, he was a co-chairperson for the 3rd Annual Taste of the NFL: The Ultimate Dallas Cowboys Tailgate Party. This was held at the Abacus Restaurant and benefited the North Texas Food Bank. That event raised enough money to provide 330,000 meals for hungry North Texans.

Further, in 2008 Marcus Spears donated $6,500 of his personal money to fund a European trip lasting 21 days for Willie Forbes, a high school student. Forbes visited France, Italy and Greece as a participant of the People to People Student Ambassadors organization. Willie was able to visit world famous sites including the Eiffel Tower and the Parthenon. He and Marcus continue to share a wonderful friendship.
Marcus Spears 96 Foundation, Inc. is a 501c3 that was formed in an effort to help those in need. In 2006 the Foundation began The Turn Around House Campaign. The Turn Around House Campaign looks to provide homes, financial assistance and food for needy families in the Dallas community. Their goal is to help single mothers, the homeless and underprivileged children in the community.

The Marcus Spears 96 Foundation partnered with Irving Ambucs to host their 2nd Annual Charity Golf Classic May 10,2010. It will be held at Great Southwest Golf Club, 612 Ave J East, Grand Prairie,TX. All proceeds will benefit the Marcus Spears 96 Foundation and Irving Ambucs. To find out more on Irving Ambucs visit www.irvingambucs.org.

Marcus Spears will be hosting his 1st Annual Marcus Spears 96 Foundation Fishing Tournament. The Tournament will be held at Bass Pro Shop of Garland, date to be announced. Registration starts at 7:15am and the boats will push off promptly at 8:00am. All proceeds for tournament will benefit the Marcus Spears 96 Foundation who is trying raise money for 96 Families in the Dallas and surrounding communities. The Funds will go towards buying school clothes and supplies for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year.

All monies accepted on day of Tournament will be Cash or Check Only!

Fishing license will be required and can be purchased starting at 7am for folks in the tournament.
